🎯 What Will We Learn Today?

A circle is one of the most perfect shapes in math. Today we'll learn what makes a circle special and how to describe it.

📚 What Is a Circle?

A circle is a round shape where every point on the edge is the same distance from the center. Unlike squares or triangles, a circle has no corners and no straight sides — just one smooth, curved edge.

Think of a bicycle wheel, a clock face, or a coin. These are all circles!

📍 Key Parts of a Circle

The very middle of the circle is called the center. From the center, every point on the circle is exactly the same distance away. This is the most important rule about circles!

🎮 Let's Practice!

Activity 1: Find 5 circles in your room or outside. Are they perfect circles?

Activity 2: Draw a circle using a compass. Put the sharp point in the middle — that's the center! Keep it still and rotate the pencil around it.

Activity 3: Try drawing a circle freehand. Is it harder than using a compass? Why?

💡 What Makes a Circle Special

  • Every point on a circle is equally far from the center

  • A circle has no corners or edges

  • A circle looks the same from every direction

  • If you cut a circle through the center, you get two identical halves

  • 📝 Check Your Understanding

  • How many sides does a circle have?

  • What do we call the very middle of a circle?

  • Name 3 things in real life that are shaped like a circle.

  • True or false: A circle has corners.
