🎯 What Will We Learn Today?

Angles are everywhere in geometry! Today we'll learn what angles are, how we measure them, and where to find them all around us.

📚 What Is an Angle?

An angle is the amount of turn between two lines that meet at a point. Think about how much a door turns when you open it — that's an angle!

Angles are measured in degrees(°). One complete turn all the way around is 360°.

📐 Types of Angles

Acute Angle(between 0° and 90°)

Small and sharp! Like a slice of pizza or the tip of a sharp pencil.

Right Angle(exactly 90°)

A perfect L-shape. Like the corner of a book or the corner of a table. Look for the little square mark □!

Obtuse Angle(between 90° and 180°)

Wide and open. Like a folding fan or a reclining chair.

Straight Angle(exactly 180°)

A perfectly straight line. Like an open book lying flat on a table.

🎮 Angles in the World Around Us

25° — The recline of a movie theater seat
40° — A ski jump ramp
90° — The corner of a window frame
120° — A hexagon in a honeycomb
180° — When you unfold a folded paper completely

📝 Why Angles Matter

Understanding angles helps you:
  • Measure accurately

  • Describe shapes

  • Design buildings and bridges

  • Even make video games!

  • 💡 Key Facts to Remember

  • A right angle is always 90°

  • The three angles inside a triangle always add up to 180°

  • A full circle is 360°

  • An acute angle is always less than 90°

  • 📝 Check Your Understanding

  • How many degrees do you turn when you make a right turn while walking? → 90°

  • How many degrees is a right angle?

  • Is an obtuse angle always bigger than a right angle?

  • What is the name of a 180° angle?

  • Find and list three right angles in the room around you.
