🎯 What Will We Learn Today?

Now that we know what area means, let's practice finding the area of rectangles and squares with bigger numbers and real-world problems!

📚 Quick Review

  • Rectangle area = Length × Width → A = L × W

  • Square area = Side × Side → A = s²

  • 🎮 Let's Practice with Examples!

Example 1: A playground is 25 meters long and 18 meters wide. How many square meters is it?
  • A = 25 × 18 = 450 square meters

  • Example 2: A square tile has side length 30 cm. What is its area?
  • A = 30 × 30 = 900 cm²

  • Example 3: Your bedroom is 12 feet by 10 feet. Your brother's room is 14 feet by 8 feet. Which room has more area?
  • Your room: 12 × 10 = 120 sq ft

  • Brother's room: 14 × 8 = 112 sq ft

  • Your room is bigger!

  • 💡 Area in Real Life

  • Painting a wall: Measure height × width to know how much paint

  • Buying a rug: Know the area to make sure it fits

  • Planting grass: Calculate area to buy the right amount of seeds

  • 📝 Practice Problems

  • A rectangular field is 40 m by 25 m. What is its area?

  • A square has sides of 15 cm. Find its area.

  • A book cover is 22 cm by 14 cm. What is its area?

  • Two rectangles: one 7×9, another 5×12. Which has greater area?
