🎯 What Will We Learn Today?

Angles are everywhere — in buildings, in sports, and even in your own body! Today we'll learn what an angle is and how to describe it.

📚 What Is an Angle?

An angle is formed when two lines meet at a point. The point where they meet is called the vertex. The two lines are called the arms or sides of the angle.

Think of opening a door — the angle changes as you open it wider. Or think of a clock: the hour and minute hands form different angles throughout the day!

📐 Parts of an Angle

  • Vertex: The corner point where both lines meet (B in the diagram below)

  • Arms (or sides): The two straight lines that make the angle (BA and BC)

    🔍 How We Measure Angles

We measure angles in degrees (°) . A full circle is 360°. The bigger the opening between the two lines, the bigger the angle!

    🎮 Find Angles Around You!

Activity 1: Look at a clock at 3:00. What kind of angle do the hands make?

Activity 2: Make angles with your body! Stand straight, then bend at the waist. You're making an angle!

Activity 3: Find angles in your room — corners of books, tables, picture frames.

    💡 Key Facts

  • An angle is measured by how much one line has rotated from the other

  • Angles are measured in degrees (°)

  • A right angle = 90° (like the corner of a square)

  • Full circle = 360°

  • 📝 Check Your Understanding

  • What is the point where two lines meet to form an angle called?

  • What unit do we use to measure angles?

  • How many degrees are in a full circle?

  • Draw an angle and label its vertex and arms.

  • Find an acute angle in your room. Describe where it is.
